Mid-year result: on average 3.8 hours of sport per week 💪 . Irrationality rules the world 🌍 . So how do we get back to rational? How can we think more and more clearly? 🧠 . To begin with, we need to learn and admit the mental biases that we all have 💭 . They are shortcuts our brain uses to deal with too much information and fill in gaps when we need to. At the same time, these cognitive biases silently ruin our lives, one decision at a time 💣 . . ▪️Sunk Cost Fallacy 💰- When a path of action does not lead to a desired result, instead of reevaluating the whole idea and change the way, we continue on it and invest more time, effort and resources just because of the previously taken actions and inability to let it go . ▪️Confirmation bias ⚖️- Unconsciously we tend to look and notice more the information that supports your existing beliefs, and reject data that go against what you believe. This week EBBC @ebbc.be hosted a great book discussion event to go through and practice the main negotiation tactics discussed in the book 📖 “Never Split the difference” by a former international FBI hostage negotiator Chris Voss . ▪️ Negotiation begins with listening 👂 , making it about the other people, validating their emotions, and creating enough trust and safety for a real conversation to begin. . ▪️Use mirrors 🙏 to encourage the other side to empathize and bond with you, keep people talking, buy your side time to regroup, and encourage your counterparts to reveal their strategy. . ▪️Labeling 🗣 or Giving someone’s emotion, gets you close to someone without asking about external factors you know nothing about. . ▪️Use “How ..” and “What ..” questions instead of “Why..” ❓to get clarifications as it is less hostile and positions you as trying to understand the opponent’s point of view . ▪️“No” is a Go: it provides a great opportunity for you and the other party to clarify what you really want by eliminating what you don’t want. . #learning #selfimprovement #selfdevelopment #warrenbuffet #raydalio #neversplitthediffeeence #disagreement #communications #leadership #lead #leader #negotiations #management #business
